tuesday dec 9th.

hello hello. i have returned. a lot has happened since the last time i posted on here.

last time i updated, mom was halfway through her visit, and we were headed back to milan. we got to spend a little time in rome, where we had an incredible dinner. then we headed to naples where we spent a few days hanging out on the coast. finally, on our way back we stopped off in florence to hang out for a day.

since then ive visited paris, amsterdam, genova and london. it took about 3 hours to upload all these pictures because the network in milan is so horrible. and they are from most recent to oldest. london/amsterdam/genova/paris/moms visit.

twelve days left. its been quite a trip.

mom arrives!

we are on our second night in napoli (new city). mom arrived on thursday morning, and we took a train to roma that evening. we spent the night there, and half of friday. we had an incredible dinner near the hotel thursday night and visited the colosseum on friday.

we are staying at a great little hotel near the train station in naples tonight, but will probably stay at one on the coast tomorrow. the weather has been interesting. huge thunderstorm last night, and low dark rain clouds over vesuvius today with stints of blue sky.

i didnt bring the cord for my camera, but here is what mom has captured so far.

ps. pizza originated in naples!

our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again. we had longer ways to go. but no matter, the road is life.

VENICE!

on monday my cross cultural psychology class took a day trip to venice. its about a 2.5 hour train ride. we arrived around 11 and we were there until 7. it was a beautiful city, and even though the sky was a little gray, we had perfect weather. its been raining on and off here in milan for the past 6 days.

tonight, most of my classmates are going to watch the election from 11pm until it ends at around 6am. instead, my roommate and i are going to the supergrass concert which is not far from the residence. i can watch the highlights of the election tomorrow, how often do you get to see supergrass perform live in milan.

here are some pictures from venice.

happy halloween!

dads last day was today. he takes off mid day tomorrow. we were going to try to make it to lake como but the weather was 45 and rainy. we hung out around duomo today. wandered, had some wine, wandered, had some wine etc...

we are back at the hotel now, going to grab some dinner, and probably keep the halloween festivities to a minimum, however there are quite a lot of events going on.

florence / rome

so dad and i arrived later than expected last night into milan. our train from rome left at 3:30 and we didnt arrive back until almost 9:30. we spent the last 24 hours of our trip in rome. i do not recommend attempting to conquer rome in 24 hours. however, i think we both enjoyed florence quite a bit more, so maybe its ok.

you can casually tour florence by foot, however if you want to see all of rome you have to use a different means of transport. we chose to follow the herd and take one of the double decker tourist buses on the first night we arrived. it helped us find our way around town. dad claims he had the best meal of the trip at a little restaurant in rome near piazza barberini. or, pizza barbie.

my camera died midway through the colosseum visit. it didnt make it to the vatican.

here are the few pictures we managed to take.

and i decided to make the pictures bigger on the main page b/c they look too small normally, and then when you try to enlarge them they get too big.

outside the hotel in florence.

we didnt have enough time to view the inside.
